Route:  Long and short routes available.

Short route  5K. Heads through the village of Newton on Ouse towards Benningbrough Hall, just at the entrance to the hall take the obvious footpath (signposted) leading to the the river. The path then hugs the banks of the Ouse, route navigation is easy,  keep going along for a couple of k’s along Monkton Reach. Take the first footpath on the left towards New Road, pulling away from the river and tracking the line of trees. Just before the road take the path through the kissing gate on the left into the grounds of Beningbrough Estate, and enjoy easy running along good surface back to Newton on Ouse.

Long Route Heads north through the village past the church and the pub, bearing left at the end of the village onto the main road, take the first footpath on the left, heading south along the river, this first section is a bit of an obstacle course but an interesting one!

At the end of the village the path merges with the shorter route, and hugs the river along monkton reach, the option of an 8k route is then possible by taking the footpath on the left as for the shorter route, (and a section of the route that has not been recceed) stay with the river along Beningbrough Ings for about a kilometre before taking the first footpath on the left just before the village of Benningbrough, follow this through fields for about 1k, before reaching the road. Then either enter the grounds through the main gates or turn left onto the immediate footpath and enter the grounds through the kissing gate as above. The final loop is available by taking the first footpath on the right into the woods (through the metal kissing gate) to put a lovely route around the paddocks before picking up the main track and heading back through the estate to Newton on Ouse.

Surface: Public Footpath 50% Road / Hardened Track 50%
Mud Factor: 40% Just Muddy 60% Mud free! (Long route 5% bog!)

Highlights: A Stately home, and its magnificent grounds, riverside running at its finest watch out for Kingfisher, riverside trail running at its finest .

Difficulty Rating: Easy, a flat route with easy return on estate tracks.

Escape Route: At most points along the river (and only in an emergency) it is possible to make an escape through the grounds of the hall. On the long route the village of Benningbrough offers an escape route at the far end.
